Tarlika Nuñez-Navarro is Dean and Professor of Law at St. Thomas University College of Law. She previously served as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, a managing partner in private practice, and a Circuit Judge in Florida’s Seventeenth and Ninth Judicial Circuits.

She was the first Colombian American appointed to the Circuit Court bench in those two circuits. Her appointments were made by then-Governor Rick Scott and Governor Ron DeSantis. Her judicial work included juvenile and felony drug court, and she was recognized for her contributions to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Drug Court Program.

As Dean, she has led the school to record enrollment, its highest July bar passage rate and a rise of 17 places in U.S. News & World Report rankings over three years. The school’s first alumna Dean, she teaches Advanced Trial Litigation and the Women and the Law seminar.

Her television analysis covers criminal, family law, domestic violence and civil proceedings, with particular attention to charging decisions, evidence, judicial rulings, verdicts, sentencing and appeal. She has appeared on FOX News, CBS, NewsNation, Newsmax and Court TV.

She chairs The Florida Bar’s Mental Health and Wellness Standing Committee, serves on the Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, and is a trustee and Executive Committee member of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society. Her honors include Jurist of the Year from the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida and the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association’s Bravo Award.
